I just think there is so much more value in discomfort. I love the way it boosts your learning curve. It optimizes your mind and your mindset for growth.
I think that’s why I’ve never stayed still very long, professionally. Even in my very first job at The Navigator Company, in six months I turned my internship to a great job opportunity as a Business Controller. And I’ve kept making my way since: worked with student housing and real estate, renewable energies and made my way to join Shilling full time.
I love the startup market. The startup mentality. Its nimble and agile environment. Its diversity. The crazy amount of super smart people here - and all of them trying to be the most prepared person in the room. Everybody seems to be at the same speed as me: intent on growing and evolving as people, just as much as their businesses.
If I had known how much I liked it here, I would probably have raced into the startup scene earlier.
In my life, that’s the only thing I’d do differently. Probably.
